Virgil Lee Spears, Jr.

     Virgil Lee Spears, Jr., “Lee”, was born April 2nd, 1964, in Roanoke, Alabama and he passed away Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. Lee was sixty years old.

     Lee is survived by his son, Jonathon Lee Spears (Kaley Taunton); daughter, Jamie Agurto; mother, Martha Joyce Spears; his grandson, Owen Spears; brother, Glenn Spears (Iva); nieces, Crystal Spears, Brandy Spears, and Ashley Spears; cousin, Sandra Dunlap; aunt, Fay Stephens.

     Lee was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Lee Spears, Sr.; grandfather, Owen E. Pitts (Mavis T. Pitts) of Abanda, Alabama. Also, Leon Spears (Mindy Lou); aunt, Kathleen Spears.

     Lee graduated from Milltown High School in 1982. He worked at Lanier Mill for several years. Lee was an avid mechanic and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting along with riding old country back roads. Lee was a fighter and had a big heart. He loved his two dogs, Scooter and Lucky. Lee also loved spending time with his special friend, Tina Hayes.

     Funeral services for Lee will be held on Friday, July 19th, 2024, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Marty Dunlap will officiate. Lee’s family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
