Vivien Hodnett Nolen

Vivien Hodnett Nolen passed away peacefully at her residence on March 20, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on June 7, 1951, in Langdale, Alabama, Vivien's life was a testament to the power of selflessness and dedication to family.

Vivien was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was married to Terry Nolen for 48 years and together, they raised their son, Rusty (Treva) Nolen, and delighted in the joys of watching their granddaughters Grayson, Reese, and Ellis Nolen, grow and thrive. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Bill and Joan Hodnett, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion that she carried throughout her life. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby (Pat) Hodnett and numerous other family members.


A proud graduate of Lanett High School, Vivien's commitment to excellence was evident early on. Her professional journey was marked by a remarkable 42-year tenure at Columbus Foundries, where she served as the purchasing manager. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her colleagues and the community she helped build within the foundry.

Vivien's heart was always with her family, the true center of her world. She found immense joy in cooking with her granddaughters and engaging in crafts with all her grandchildren. These moments, filled with laughter and love, will be cherished memories for her family. Vivien's hands were rarely still, as she poured her love into every meal prepared and every craft created, leaving a legacy of cherished traditions.

Those who knew Vivien would describe her as the epitome of selflessness, loving, and generous. Her unwavering support and care for her family and friends were the hallmarks of her character.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service hour. 1:00 P.M. EDT. The Reverend Rusty Letson officiating.
