Wanda Padgett Carter, age 66, passed away with her family by her side on June 7th, 2024, at UAB hospital in Birmingham, AL. She was the wife and best friend of Travis Carter. They shared 28 adventurous years together.
Born in Valley, AL Wanda was the daughter of Howard Padgett and Charlie Pearl Padgett. She was a graduate of Valley High School and was employed at Huguley Water Authority where she worked her way up, eventually becoming office manager and retiring at the end of 2022 with an impressive 47½ years of service.
Wanda was a believer in the Christian faith. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, chasing her grandchildren around with the camera, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit. She was a true Southern lady who was kind, gentle, and compassionate.
Wanda is survived by her husband Travis Carter, her sons Jeremy White (Rohini), Brandon White (Vickie), her daughters Kelli Daniel (Chris), Christin Doyal (Stephen). Her grandchildren Connor Daniel, Lance Doyal, Collin Daniel, Bhavani Krishna, Lindsey Doyal (Jonathon), and Kelsi Lofton (Jesse). Her sister Debra Price (Ricky), nephew Steven Price (Kelley) and grandnephew Asa Price.
She was preceded in death by her father Howard Padgett, her mother Charlie Pearl Padgett, brother James Howard “Pete” Padgett, and sister Shelia Marie Wright (Scott).
Visitation will be held on June 10th, 2024, at 6pm at Johnson Brown Funeral Home in Valley, AL. Followed by a memorial service at 7:30pm.
