Wendy Davis Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wendy Alice Davis, beloved mother and “Granma” who passed suddenly on Sunday, November 2, 2025. She lived 85 wonderful years mostly in Valley, Alabama.

A memorial service for Wendy will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Johnson Memorial Chapel, 3700 20th Avenue, Valley, Alabama 36854 with Reverend Rusty Letson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. She will be buried next to her husband in Johnson Memorial Gardens, where he has been waiting ten years for her to join him.

Wendy was born on April 10, 1940, in Eastbourne, England to Edward (Sonny) & Alice Hatcher. She was the ninth of ten children of which only two now remain – Keith Hatcher of Montreal, Canada, and Joan Brooks of New South Wales, Australia, as well as several nieces and nephews in various locations.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Jerry Davis. Survivors include daughter Sandra (Dan) Marr of Vancouver, Canada, son Steven (Karen) Pickett, daughters Terri (Tracy) Culpepper, and Tina (Tom) Wilkins of Valley, Alabama; grandchildren Josh (Sam) Marr, Cody (Robyn) Marr, Vanessa Marr all of Vancouver, Canada, Hunter (Lindsey) Shurden of Salem, Alabama, and Drew (Bre) Edge, Harli (Anthony) Keafer, Eli (Hannah) Culpepper, Noah Culpepper, and Aubree Wilkins all of Valley, Alabama; great-grandchildren Remy & Brooks Marr, Levi & Jaxon Marr of Vancouver, Canada, and Leighton Culpepper of Valley, Alabama.

Wendy was always a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting, as well as other various decorative crafting. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and camping. She was an overenthusiastic leader of the VHS band boosters in the 80s. She was an avid traveler visiting family and friends across the world, especially in Vancouver, Canada. She was extremely energetic and active for an 85- year-old! Most recently, she spent her time visiting with friends, especially Mary Hanna for coffee every morning and going for lunch and shopping with Kristy Dawson every Wednesday. She also relished commenting on her friends and families Facebook posts, and working at her daughter Terris’ cafe, which is also where she spent her last morning, which brought much peace and comfort to her family.
