William Ray Pruitt Obituary

William Ray Pruitt, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Valley, Alabama, at the age of 85.

Bill was born on August 28, 1940, in Valley, Alabama, where he also spent his final days. He lived a life marked by kindness, steady character, and a quiet strength that touched those around him. Those who knew him will remember a man who carried himself with warmth and respect, and who made others feel welcome through his gentle manner and thoughtful presence.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Pruitt, whose memory remained close to his heart. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Joe Pruitt and Ome Pruitt, as well as his brother, Joe Pruitt, and his sister, Minnie Sikowski. These family ties were an important part of his life, and he carried their influence with him throughout the years. The love and lessons shared within his family helped shape the man he became and the legacy he leaves behind.

Bill will be remembered as a kind man whose life reflected decency, humility, and care for others. He had a way of leaving a lasting impression without seeking attention for himself. His life was a testament to the value of simple goodness, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Though his earthly journey has ended, the legacy of Bill Pruitt remains in the love he gave, the example he set, and the lives he touched along the way. He will be remembered with affection and respect by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Graveside services for Bill will be held on Monday, June 29th, 2026, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama. Interment will follow Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery. The Pastor Rusty Letson will officiate.
