William Samuel "Sam" Walls, Jr. Obituary

William Samuel "Sam" Walls, Jr., a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. Born on June 26, 1973, in Chambers County, Alabama, Sam's life was marked by his friendly demeanor, interesting conversations, and intelligent insights, which endeared him to all who knew him.

Throughout his life, Sam was known for his love of the outdoors and the simple pleasures in life. He had a passion for car shows, where he admired the craftsmanship and shared his knowledge with fellow enthusiasts. His love for motorcycles was more than just a hobby; it was a way for him to feel free and connected with the world around him. Sam also found joy in the precision and skill of shooting, often going to the gun range with his son Trey, where they forged lasting memories together.

Family was the cornerstone of Sam's life. He is survived by his loving children, Alexis McKay (Terry), Trey Walls, and Jessica VanHouten (Matt). His grandchildren, Julie Smith, Jasper VanHouten, Myles VanHouten, Jevan VanHouten, and Oliver McKay, brought him immeasurable happiness and pride. Sam's role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and his legacy will live on through the stories and memories shared with his grandchildren. Sam was a beloved brother to Gina Perez, Mitzi Walker (Brian), and Joann Newton Rinehart (Scott). His sisters will remember him for his unwavering support, his infectious laughter, and the countless moments of joy they shared. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Walls, Sr. and Betty Walls; his mother, Barbara Walls McGough; and siblings, Richard Walls, Robert Davis, and Tricia Harris. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he carried their memory with him always.

Sam's life was characterized by his amazing spirit and his ability to bring people together. He had a knack for setting up venues where his friend's band would play, creating spaces filled with music, laughter, and camaraderie. His involvement in these events was not just about the music; it was about fostering a sense of community and creating lasting memories for all who attended.

Beyond his work, Sam was a fixture at local cookouts and bonfires, where he would gather with family and friends to share stories, enjoy good food, and bask in the warmth of the fire and each other's company. These moments were a testament to Sam's belief in the importance of connection and the value of spending time with those you love.

Sam Walls, Jr. will be remembered for the richness he brought to the lives of those around him. His friendly nature, interesting stories, and intelligent perspective made him a beloved figure in his community. As we say goodbye to Sam, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the love and laughter he shared with each person he touched.
