Mrs. Martha Minter, age 70, of Lanett, AL passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the EAMC Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, AL.

     Mrs. Minter is survived by her husband, John Minter; her three children, Jonathon Minter of Lanett, AL, Alex Rogers (Jennifer) Minter of Auburn, AL, and Mary Emily (Doug) Sheffield of Jacksons Gap, AL; her sister, Pamela (Frederick) Carman of Tupelo, MS; her two brothers, Steve (Nancy) Wheeler of Dadeville, AL and Roger (Carmen) Wheeler of Spanish Fort, AL; her four grandchildren, Lillian Minter, Kathleen Sheffield, Olivia Minter, and Grant Sheffield.

     Mrs. Minter was born on March 24, 1946 in LaFayette, AL. She was a member of the Lanett First Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Lanett High School class of 1964, and later graduated from Auburn University, where she obtained her Master's Degree.  She served as a teacher in the Lanett Elementary School System for 23 years prior to her retirement. 

     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 3:00 PM (EST) at the Waverly Cemetery in Waverly, AL with the Rev. David Bradshaw officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Lanett First Baptist Church in her memory.
