Mrs. Mary Francis Yates, 82, a resident of Lanett, AL passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at her residence to her Heavenly home surrounded by her family.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM EST Thursday, September 22, 2016 from Resthaven Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM EST at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. 

Mrs. Yates was born in Pike County, AL on January 22, 1934.  She retired in 1998 with over 40 years of service as a registered nurse at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, where she loved and cared for her patients.  She had a passion for life who was always willing to help those in need.  She loved animals especially her dogs.  She was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at Sunset Heights Baptist Church in Lanett.  She will be missed by her loving family.

Survivors include her children, Jackie K. Yates, Patsy Y. Spradlin, & Michael Yates; grandchildren, Amanda Meadows, Ashley Jackson, Christen Estes, Leslie Walden, & T.J. Yates; great-grandchildren, Trent, Katie, & Coleman Whaley, Gavin Walden, & Brayden Yates; great-great-grandchildren, Charleigh Whaley, & KY Yates; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian K. Yates. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association or the Epilepsy Foundation. 

Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery.
