Mrs. Peggy Joyce Nelson, age 85, of Lanett, AL passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Bethany House in Auburn, AL.  She was born on January 30, 1932 in Chambers County, AL.

     Mrs. Nelson is survived by her three children, Steve (Donna) Nelson, Jim (Pat) Nelson, and Lisa Nelson (Danny) Staples; her seven grandchildren, April (Brian) Sexton, Tanya Nelson, Ryan Miller, Summer (Daniel) Ruff, Tristan Nelson, Tony Nelson, and Rusty Nelson; her five great grandchildren, Jeni Nelson, Brooklyn Nelson, Jacob Ruff, Barrett Sexton, and Caleigh Sexton.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas R. Nelson; great grandchild, Austin Sexton; her father, Owen Jennings; her mother, Julia Jennings.

     Mrs. Nelson was a very faithful member of Calvary Family Worship Center in Valley.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a devoted homemaker who always put her family first.  She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Gary Cotney and the Rev. Laverne Cotney officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett, AL.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
